Who Is Carrie?

I am a homebirthing, homeschooling mother of three very tenacious boys. Married to an anal long-haired headbanger. Owned by a very fat black grumpy old cat. (Don’t tell him I said he’s old. He’s 17!)
Update: My beloved Axl finally passed away in May of 2008. He is sorely missed.
As far as labels go, let’s see… I’m libertarian, opinionated, headstrong, I’m a codegeek (I code my own HTML and have way too many websites to count), I support the 2nd amendment and the death penalty, and I vote. Scary thought to some.
Our humble abode is currently near Virginia Beach, Virginia where we like to go fishing and crabbing when it’s warm enough, grow our own veggies (translation: fight the slugs and wire grass), and interface with our computers. Seriously. We’d get neural implants if we could, we’re that weird. (Plus hubby could finally type as fast as me, hehe.)
I play used to play Runescape as Saylr and if I’m online, I’m usually on world 44. We’re all members here… well, except Alex, of course. Being able to roleplay such a cool game with your sons is something I encourage every parent to do (hey, it’s FREE). Let’s face it, I grew up in the 80’s and yes, I was a Dungeons & Dragons addict. The mere fact that my sons even enjoy an RPG that I do gets me all warm and fuzzy inside. Just wait until they’re old enough to break out the old D&D manuals (insert evil grin here).
Update: I’ve given up Runescape and become a World of Warcraft convert. You’ll find me on the Madoran realm as Druanna or Chaoddess, and a number of any alts. I’ve got serious Altitis. Yes, Mike and the boys play as well. Kelsey’s also been bugging us to break out the D&D manuals… argh.
I have written a fantasy genre book that I’ve never submitted to publishers, and I still get urges to put the darn thing online for free. Maybe one day I will.
As far as memes and internetty things go, I’m one of the 2,000 Bloggers, I participate in Photo Hunters (previously named Scavenger Hunt Saturdays, I believe), and Tackle It Tuesday.
Oh, and I also quit a 2-pack-a-day smoking habit the first week of February 2007 with Chantix - so if I sometimes seem like I *really* need a cigarette, it’s probably because I *really* do.
Update on the smoking quit - it lasted for a month.
I know that if I can do it for a month, I can quit for good. I’ve identified where I let myself get weak and undermined myself. I’m preparing to quit again (for good this time), with things in place to counteract those undermining spots (namely, not allowing my Mom to have her cigarettes with her when we hang out). I’ve still got plenty of Chantix left to help me along - and yes I do heartily recommend it for anyone who has tried to quit with everything else and never had luck. Just don’t hang out with folks you normally smoke with and allow them to smoke around you. It’s just too easy to say “well I’ll just have one”.
What do you think? I wanna know! Please leave a comment :)
