Testing Windows Live Writer

Okay, this is a test of the Windows Live Writer software that lets you post to your blogs right from your desktop.  It’s got a WYSIWYG interface, lets you put in images and resize them on the fly (gonna see how well it’ll upload this little plug image).  You can choose which categories to post to, and it’s got its own ping list where you can drop in your list and it’ll ping them for you. Hrmm… wondering how well it would work with multiple blogs. *checks* Yep, it’s got settings for multiple blogs, too. And you can stick in a map, which is kinda cool. I wish the plugin for it worked in FF though. Maybe someone else will make a FF plugin for it.

Let’s publish this and see how it goes…

Well that worked, let’s see how editing a post goes.

Btw, turns out there’s already a Firefox plugin for it. W00t!

The State of Iraq’s Union

I was expecting President Bush to spend most of the SotU address talking about Iraq, like he’s done for the past 6 years - and he didn’t let me down. :(

Tell me how the hell we can even still call it a state of the union - meaning OUR union, the United States - address when the majority of the time spent speaking is about another country entirely?

Let’s see, it took him about ten minutes to have his entourage come in and sit down, be introduced, make his way through the crowd, and finally arrive at the podium.

Then a dizzying fly-by of topics that actually deal with our country for 20 minutes. I think he might have even averaged more than one topic per minute, but I’d need to check the transcript for that.

As soon as it hit 9:30 - bammo… in came the war talk. 25 minutes of what’s so great about Iraq. Nevermind that this is supposed to be a speech telling the Congress and the American people what’s so great about the USA… let’s spend more time talking about some other country than we do talking about our own.

The final 5 minutes were spent praising people in the gallery. And there you have it. Another hour-long (television time) talk where the priority and emphasis was on Iraq. You know, I’ll be happy to see another President just in the hopes that we’ll actually get a SotU address that is actually about OUR union!

I’m really, really, tired of this.
Oh and by the way… Mr. President, putting in a federally mandated benchmark and then requiring schools to meet that benchmark or lose funding is most definitely not “returning local control”. Yeah, I did catch that blatant lie during your quick pass-over of US issues, when you were urging Congress to renew the “Let’s Fuck Up The Schools Even More” act.

Let’s hope that they don’t.

Da Boys, Da Auto Show, and Da Bears!

The Auto Show came to town this weekend. Dad, being the brave man that he is, took all 3 boys with him to browse around. They had a great time climbing in and out of tons of cars/trucks and pretending they could drive them. Once someone gave Alex a full-color glossy brochure for Chevrolet though, that was it. All he wanted to do was sit in other cars and Oooh and Aaah over the Chevys, lol.

On another good note, Dad’s favorite team DA BEARS are going to the Superbowl! WAHOO!!!!!!!!!
